Wat Phasang Tham Merit-Making Ceremony to Raise Funds for Multipurpose Hall Construction

Hat Yai, Thailand | June 30, 2024 - Disciples of Wat Phasang Tham and local residents gathered for a cloth-offering ceremony to raise funds for the construction of a new multipurpose hall to replace the old dilapidated wooden hall.

The multipurpose hall has been under construction for several decades since the time it served as a temporary shelter for monks at Plakchumsaeng. The two-story wooden hall was abandoned after the monks left the temple, leading it to deteriorate. Later, Phra Ajarn Anant Anuttaro came to develop and improve the area, starting with the construction of various monastic buildings. From almost nothing, the temple gradually prospered, and in 2010, it was elevated from a temporary shelter to Wat Phasang Tham. The multipurpose hall has been used to store various tools and equipment, but it has suffered significant deterioration. Disciples and devotees agreed to hold a cloth-offering ceremony to raise funds for the construction of a new multipurpose hall.

The cloth-offering ceremony was conducted in a simple manner. There were over 10 stalls with generous donations, featuring delicious and renowned restaurants from Hat Yai and nearby areas. The alms-giving ceremony with cooked rice began at 8:00 AM, followed by the offering of alms. Devotees then dispersed to consume their meals. The cloth-offering ceremony commenced at 9:30 AM, and the entire process was straightforward and brief.

Those willing to donate can do so at Wat Phasang Tham or transfer funds to the savings account at Thai Commercial Bank, Ban Phru branch, account number 727 239765 9.
