International Gather in Songkran’s Water Pouring Ceremony at Wat Pa Sangtham, 2025

HatYai - This morning (April 20, 2025), the atmosphere at Wat Pa Sangtham was vibrant and full of devotion as crowds gathered for the 2025 annual Water Pouring Ceremony. This traditional event brought together a large number of disciples and devout followers.

The water pouring ceremony is a yearly tradition at Wat Pa Sangtham, following the Songkran Festival. This year, the ceremony attracted numerous followers not only from Thailand but also from other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Myanmar, who came to participate in this beautiful cultural tradition.

The event kicked off in the morning with a merit-making alms-giving ceremony to monks, followed by offering meals to the clergy. Attendees then listened to a Dharma talk and received blessings for goodwill, while enjoying a variety of food offered by generous donors at the charity stalls.

Late in the morning, a key ceremony of seeking forgiveness from the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha took place, showcasing respect and gratitude before the highlight event—the water pouring ritual. Devotees joyously poured water over the Buddha statues, marking the ceremony’s pinnacle.

Additionally, attendees received a special commemorative gift from the temple, a high-quality stainless-steel vacuum flask, to remember their participation in this sacred tradition.
