The construction site for Hatyai Hospital 2 has been finalized. “Siam Kankarin Group” donates 130 rai of land in Ban Phru. “Dechathit” allocates budget for immediate land development to enhance it into a health city, while coordinating with all parties to expedite the project.

Good news for the people of Songkhla province after long efforts to establish Hatyai Hospital 2, as Hatyai Hospital is increasingly unable to accommodate more patients each year due to limited space. Recently, Mr. Dechathit Khaothong, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, personally inspected various donation sites, including state land, and decided to choose the area in Ban Phru sub-district (Ban Rai Municipality) in Hatyai district, Songkhla province, donated by Siam Kankarin Group, totaling 130 rai. Today (February 6, 2025), a meeting was held at Hatyai Hospital to discuss the operation of the “Hatyai Hospital 2 Construction Project”, chaired by Mr. Dechathit Khaothong, along with Ms. Suphaporn Kamnerdphon, Member of the House of Representatives for Songkhla, Democrat Party, Dr. Chaiyasit Thepchatchai, Director of Hatyai Hospital, Dr. Sombat Padungwitthawat, Health Inspector of Health Zone 12, and representatives from various agencies, including the Land Department, Treasury Department, Provincial Electricity Authority, Provincial Waterworks Authority, Groundwater Resources Department, Department of Highways, Department of Rural Roads, Ban Rai Municipality, and Mr. Jamnong Iewwongcharoen, the executive of Siam Kankarin Group, who donated 130 rai of land for the construction of Hatyai Hospital 2.

Mr. Dechathit Khaothong, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, stated that he has been aware of the overcrowding issue at Hatyai Hospital for a long time. Upon taking office, he immediately pushed forward this project in collaboration with all sectors. Previously, there were offers to donate land in the Tha Chang sub-district of Bangklam district, but there were problems with the inherited land as one heir did not sign to transfer the land. Therefore, new land parcels were sought, both donated and state-owned. Mr. Jamnong had expressed his intention to donate 100 rai long ago; however, I requested an additional amount because I wanted to develop it into a health city, also with a nursing college in the area. This led to the donation of 130 rai by Siam Kankarin today. For choosing this land parcel, we made a collective decision for several reasons; this area is elevated and will not flood, requiring less budget for land filling. It is surrounded by nature, not far from the main road, which is Kanjanavanit Road (Highway 4), and close to the Hatyai eastern ring road (Highway 425). Access is convenient from all routes, and today several agencies were invited to participate in a meeting to expedite this project. The Ministry of Public Health has already allocated a budget of 92 million baht for land development, and once everything is finalized, there will be a formal handover ceremony and a press conference again.
