Driver's interview: Maxim launches the awarding of best drivers
Maxim’s Best Drivers program honors outstanding drivers, celebrating those who excel in customer service and reliability across cities like Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Hat Yai, Korat, and Udon Thani. To qualify, drivers must maintain a rating above 4.5, avoid complaints, and complete a high volume of orders. Drivers are recognized with special badges, branded gifts, and a feature on Maxim’s social media platforms. These stickers help Maxim identify the best drivers through a new system that highlights quality and professionalism. It will now be easier to distinguish professionals with the best ratings, who have earned the trust and preference of users.
Pattana Mongkhon, a 45-year-old driver from Chiang Mai, was recently named one of Maxim’s Best Drivers of 2024. Known for his friendly personality and excellent service. His story showcases the challenges he has overcome and the lessons he’s gained along the way. It shows how dedication can make a real difference for both drivers and passengers. Offers encouragement for others who aspire to excel in the same field.
We spoke with him to learn about his journey, challenges, and how he became one of Maxim’s standout drivers.
Originally from Lampang, Pattana shares how he took a leap of faith to join Maxim, “I moved to Chiang Mai over a month ago because there were more orders here. Back in Lampang, I was taking care of my parents and working as a daily wage worker, earning just 300-400 baht a day. I needed something more stable to support them.”
Since joining Maxim, Pattana says his life has taken a turn for the better. “My income is steady, and I have more free time. I work when I want and take breaks as needed. It’s great to feel in control of my time.”
Pattana’s efforts in making his passengers feel at ease has left a lasting impression on many of them. He recalls one ride to Mae Kam Pong, “The customer appreciated how friendly and accommodating I was. I made sure to stop for breaks when they needed snacks or to use the restroom.” Some passengers even reached out to stay in touch. “It’s moments like these that make the work feel worthwhile,” he adds.
Of course, the job isn’t without its difficulties. For Pattana, Pattana admits that communication with tourists, especially those who don’t speak Thai, can be tough. “I don’t speak much English, but I use body language and rely on the Maxim map to bridge the gap.” He also ensures his passengers have a smooth experience, even when things don’t go as planned. “If there’s traffic or bad weather, I always keep my passengers updated. Communication is everything.”
When asked what motivates him, Pattana says, “I set a daily goal to earn 1,000 baht. If I feel okay after hitting it, I’ll keep going. It’s about consistency.” As for the recognition as one of Maxim’s Best Drivers, Pattana is humbled, “Being recognized feels amazing. It’s nice to know that my hard work is paying off.”
For those just starting with Maxim, Pattana has simple advice,“Work hard, be persistent, and don’t be picky about accepting orders. Every ride counts.”
