Pholwitaya School Marks 70th Anniversary with a Celebration of Steadfast Experience and Sustainable Change

Hat Yai | August 9, 2024 – Pholwitaya School celebrated its 70th anniversary today under the theme "70 Years of Solid Experience, Towards Sustainable Change." The event highlighted the school's rich history and growth since its founding in 1954 by Grandma Phongphen Jitsena. The school began modestly with a single elevated wooden building, four teachers, and fifty students. Today, Pholwitaya School has flourished into a well-known educational institution in the region, boasting over 3,000 students, 176 teachers, and 198 classrooms and facilities.

The festivities kicked off early in the morning with a 70th Anniversary Honor Parade, featuring the school’s marching band and a special "70 Years of Pholwitaya" procession. Young primary students enthusiastically waved flags celebrating the milestone as the parade passed through the school’s main gate.

Following the parade, a memorial ceremony was held in the 5th-floor auditorium, where the school’s administration, teachers, and student representatives laid wreaths in honor of Grandma Phongphen, the school’s founder. During the midday break, students enjoyed a special cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion, with cupcakes distributed to everyone in the cafeteria.

The evening activities were held at the courtyard in front of the administration building, where students from all grade levels performed traditional Khon dance and other special presentations. A highlight of the evening was a fan dance performed by a group of teachers, which received loud cheers and applause from their students.

The celebration concluded with closing remarks and expressions of gratitude from Dr. Ampita Jitsena, the school’s principal, who warmly thanked everyone for their participation in this memorable event.
