Construction site for Hat Yai Hospital 2 confirmed “Siam Hospital Group” donates 130 rai of land in Ban Pru “Dechit” allocates budget for immediate land development to elevate the area as a health city, while coordinating with all parties to expedite the project.
Good news for the residents of Songkhla province after a long push for the construction of Hat Yai Hospital 2, as Hat Yai Hospital is facing an increasing number of patients every year and has limited space for expansion. Recently, Mr. Dechit Khawthong, Deputy Minister of Public Health, personally explored various donation sites and decided on the area in Ban Pru (Ban Rai Municipality) in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, donated by the Siam Hospital Group, amounting to 130 rai. Today (February 6, 2025), a meeting was held at Hat Yai Hospital to discuss the implementation of the “Hat Yai Hospital 2 Construction Project”, chaired by Mr. Dechit Khawthong, with Ms. Suphaphorn Kamnerdphon, member of the Songkhla House of Representatives from the Democrat Party, Dr. Chaisit Thepchatree, director of Hat Yai Hospital, Dr. Somboon Pudungwitea, health inspector of Health Zone 12, and representatives from various agencies such as the Land Department, Treasury Department, Provincial Electricity Authority, Provincial Waterworks Authority, Department of Groundwater Resources, Department of Highways, Department of Rural Roads, Ban Rai Municipality, and Mr. Jamnong Eawwongjaroen, an executive of the Siam Hospital Group, who donated the 130 rai of land for Hat Yai Hospital 2.
Mr. Dechit Khawthong stated that he has been aware of the congestion issues at Hat Yai Hospital. When the opportunity arose, he immediately pushed for this project in collaboration with all sectors. Previously, there were donors offering land in Tha Chang sub-district, Bang Klam district, but encountered issues with the inheritance property, as one heir did not sign the land donation. Therefore, new land plots were sought, both donations and from state property. The land plot offered by Mr. Jamnong has been intended for donation for a long time, 100 rai. However, he requested additional land because he wanted to establish a health city with a nursing college in the area, which led to the donation of 130 rai from the Siam Hospital Group today. The decision to select this land plot was made together for several reasons, as the area is high ground and not flood-prone, requiring minimal budget for filling. The site is surrounded by nature, not far from the main road, Kanjanavanich Road (Route 4), and close to the outer ring road of Hat Yai (Route 425), making access convenient from all directions. Today, various agencies were invited to join the meeting to work together to expedite the realization of this project. The Ministry of Public Health has already allocated a budget of 92 million baht for land development, and once everything is finalized, a ceremony for handover and an official press conference will be held.
